| 7/1/2008 | 1985 | Paul Watson | | New job... still doing project management but with a smaller company and less stress in general. Music is still a very important part of my life and I am working on/in two different projects (progressive rock fusion group and my solo work). Anybody interested can get a small ear full at myspace.com/zenmeetsdogma. My boy is in college and my little girl is a senior in high school this year. My wife decided to go back to school and is working at obtaining a career in nursing. Life is and has been good other than the grey hair and the joints starting to ache... I would love to hear from some of my old friends at Wasatch! | guitaxe@cox.net |
| 6/24/2008 | 2006 | Emily Anderer | | I’m a rising junior at Hamilton, where I’m double-majoring in English and history and possibly minoring in religious studies. This summer, I’m interning at the non-profit Johnson Park Center in Utica, NY. It’s a homeless shelter/food pantry/youth program/ex-convict work re-entry program. I’m funded by two grants from Hamilton and am sharing a gorgeous apartment with two friends. I’m going abroad all next year, in the fall to India and in the spring to Scotland. In India I get to travel for the whole semester with 21 other liberal arts students and conduct a really intense research project. In Scotland, I’m enrolling at the University of Edinburgh. My life is so exciting right now, and I’m so happy. I miss Wasatch a lot, especially Mr. Bey, Mr. Munson, Mr. Austin, and Ms. Wood. Facebook makes it easy to keep in contact with people and my sister keeps me updated on current campus happenings. Wasatch sounds like it’s getting better and better, and I’m so proud of my school. | eanderer@hamilton.edu |

My wife Nancy is a small animal veterinarian. We hiked across the Olympics on our honeymoon in 1997, and I summitted Mt. Ranier with 3 of my friends. | 9/29/2007 | 1993 | Jung Ma | Jung | You know what, I don't remember ever writing my whereabout
and news here, but there I was way down below listed as
opening an online store and also learning to play soccer and
ski... which is not so correct information after all. Online
store became an offline store and I learned to play soccer at
Wasatch and learned to ski when I was a little kid...
Anyways I am now working in international trade fields
and seriously considering opening my own business sometimes
next year. I often work with businessmen from southeast
Asia and love every minutes of my work despite the fact
that it's not always so easy and slow... I would like
to get it connected with my friends from Wasatch 92-93
again, and it would be lovely to hear from anyone. I keep
in touch with Amme Perry and Jason Cribbs from Class of 94'
and Heejung Kim, Jooyeon Han, and Daisuke Tamura from
Class of 93'. | jung0608@hotmail.com |

| 9/12/2007 | 1998 | Zach Tessmer | Hot Pocket | I joined the FBI after a knee injury forced me out of college ball. I was assigned to a case involving a gang of bank robbers in southern California. Because of my natural athletic prowess and staggering good looks, I had infiltrated the enemy ranks in no time. We played football on the beach and went skydiving and robbed banks. It was pretty cool. Naturally I became conflicted of my allegiances over time. I even had a clear shot at the ringleader, but I could not do my job. I am now in Australia and intend on finishing the unfinished. More later. | wailsrfc@hotmail.com |

I pursued music and earning a living as a carpenter, before I finally got a degree in Environmental Engineering, which I am happy to practice now with the Corps of Engineers. Life is good and full of adventure. I carry fond memories of our time in Utah with all of the wonderful people who shared the trip. | davidmweir@cs.com |
| 8/26/2007 | 1961 | Burin Kantabutra | | Am Senior Editor at The Stock Exchange of Thailand, responsible for upgrading the English-language competency of its staff and executives, and for ensuring that everything that goes out in English is of professional standards as far as command of English goes. I have two part-time editors working for me, both teachers of English as a second language or working journalists. Both are native English speakers.
Have been happily married for 29 years now, to the girl next door whom I met in Michigan, when we were both students. Two children, both boys, 25 and 27. The elder, Narisorn, is finishing his MBA in Hotel and Hospitality Management from Cesar Ritz school, Switzerland; the younger, is just starting his MBA at Univ. of Chicago, majoring in finance -- he's the third generation in my family to do their MBA there, after my dad and myself. | burinkan@truemail.co.th |
| 8/26/2007 | 65 | Donna Cowan Bray | Donna Cowan | I am basically retired. I had a stroke in 2005 which certainly turned my life around (and my family's life). I am, however, progressing and enjoy my "retirement". I take water aerobics, do crafts, work on my geneology charts on the computer, and do a little housework. We don't have grandchildren yet - we have cats instead. (7 of them!) We live in a small town outside of Atlanta where my husband grew up. It's a much slower pace than Atlanta. | dbray47@bellsouth.net |

| 8/8/2007 | 1954 | Wayne Hamilton | | Presently relaxing after giving a talk at an international conference on Wind and Trees at University of British Columbia yesterday. It went well, so my 'employer' at CICESE in northern Baja California is as pleased as I am. I'm a visiting scientist down there, and recently got a research proposal funded. As soon as the pesos arrive I'll be looking for a graduate student (must be a Mexican national) to do an MS study on development of anisotropy in annual rings of Jeffrey pine on the Sierra Juarez and produced by wind drag force on the canopy. I'm fortunate to be able to work without the negative feedback produced by needing a salary, though they do help with some of my costs. | wham4321@aol.com |
| 8/1/2007 | | Jan O | | I just met Laurie Gilbert in Taos and caught up on the WA gang. Was so sorry to hear of Richard Munson's death. I remember his enthusiasm for the kids and for teaching. | 8/1/2007 | 1967 | Johannsen, Jerry (Smiley) | Smiley | About 1/3 of us from 1967, really enjoyed returning to the campus and staying two days and nights for meals and room, while we socialized with our classmates, made music (4 musicians got together and played old favorites), and told true and untrue stories to each other. We highly recommend this reunion venue, as it afforded a sojurn to the past, plus a lovely mini-vacation for some, and one more chance to see the people we spent so much time growing up with. Thanks Donna Glidewell, Joseph Loftin and Class Rep Magaret Whitaker Stockes for making our reunion happen. | smileyjoh@hotmail.com |
| 7/27/2007 | 98 | Remi Poncelet | | Hey y'all! Great blog! Well, I am currently at work and its Friday in Paris. I should finish my week, but it's much more fun to write about the hindsight and the experiences of almost 10 years! I haven't been in contact with any Wasatchers except for my good buddy Zach who came to visit last year. I also heard a few Jesse stories which never fail to amaze me.
Anyways, things have been great since 98, I did all sorts of stuff, got an AD, a BS, traveled, worked... I now work in media relations which seems to suit my needs of being caustic to random people. I'm also moving to Barcelona in 2 months as I need to change scenery.
Would have never though I'd say this back in 98, but I do have great memories from Wasatch, mainly some of the teachers there. I think there are/were some exceptionally selfless and committed persons with whom I learned a great deal.
Best to all, maybe we will meet again in a few months.

| 6/30/2007 | 1977 | Christopher Lupke | | I am teaching Chinese at Washington State University (Pullman) which, after crisscrossing the US a few times, is now ironically the closest I've lived to Wasatch Academy since graduation. There's at least a fifty percent chance that we'll live here for the rest of our working lives. We love the great nature that's not too far and the drive from Pullman through Utah back home (Arizona) never gets boring. I regrettably was unable to attend a reunion in 1997 and can't believe how fast ten years have passed since then! I'll definitely go to the next one. When will that be? I should add that my wife Shuxin and are in China this year. A timely Fulbright-Hays Grant has given me a year off from teaching. | lupke@wsu.edu |

| 5/21/2007 | 2002 | John Brooks Ferlin | | I just graduated from Western Washington University with my BA.and I am planning on moving in June to Seattle to take a LSAT Prep course through test masters, and then applying to law school. Ultimately I would like to be a litigator for a law firm or starting my own firm. Wasatch prepared me academically for college in a lot of ways. firstly it cultivated a sense of independence within me which brought with it a sense of responsibility that was uncanny amongst my freshman peers at college. But really the most important thing that Wasatch did for me was to allow me the independence to discover who I was and wanted to be, had I remained at home it is doubtful weather or not I would've made it to college at all. My carer goals changed after my second year in college when I realized that perhaps a major in Business was not my strongest field. I decided to major in history and double minor in both philosophy and political science. Wasatch helped facilitate the completion of this by exposing me to new political ideas that my dogmatically conservative family would have avoided enlightening me on honestly. although Wasatch could've aided me better had they had other courses in philosophy beside ethics taught by a chaplain. Although I have had my hard knocks in life and for awhile I was pointing my finger in every other direction but my own, time has made a fool out of me, and I have come to appreciate Wasatch Academy for what it was and realized that at 19 or 20 years old you don't know as much as you think you do and that you should think about your actions before you make some mistakes. | glssmnky@hotmail.com |

A great article about The Old World Trader appeared in Rural Missouri magazine. It can be found at http://www.ruralmissouri.coop/06pages/06JanTrader.html. | 1/12/2007 | 2000 | Adam Masser | Rico | Hey everyone,
How's it going? So, the past few years in short: I graduated from University of Oregon(Go Ducks!) in 2004, with a BA in Philosophy. After that, I stayed in Eugene for about a year and a half, working as a software developer for a company called LogicTools. Last August I moved out to NYC, and now I'm halfway through my first year at Fordham University School of Law, working on my Juris Doctorate. I don't really know yet what I'm going to be focusing on with my degree, but I'm very interested in all aspects of technology law, as well as international human rights and economic development, so I'm hoping to figure out a way to fuse those rather disparate fields...
I'm living in Manhattan, which is pretty amazing--I've never lived on the East coast before, and New York is quite an experience. Overall, things seem to be going pretty well, but school's taking up most of my time, so I don't really get out much. But, if anyone's in NYC any time, definitely send me an email at adamator@gmail.com, I'd definitely be down to reconnect with any Wasatchers who remember me.
Take it easy,
Adam | adamator@gmail.com |

I am also attending Fort lewis College in my home town Durango Colorado. I am planning on moving to Fort Collins, COlorado in 2 years to attend CSU, and go from there to vet school.
I have been traveling a ton the past 4 years, I took a trip to Italy with my sister in 2003 for a month, that was amazing, and thanks to Ms. Booth, I knew what I was looking for. And in 2004 I took a trip to London and to Ireland, for 3 weeks, I only saw the sun once, but I would go back in a heartbeat. And this summer I took a 1 1/2 month trip all over Europe with my Brother and Sister.I dont think that was enough time though, I could use another month there, but I do plan on continuing to travel as much as I can and for as long as I can. If all works well I want to finish school and move somewhere far far away.

After working as a labor and delivery nurse for a couple of years I decided that working in the hospital is not for me. Now I am the nurse for a clinic for homless people with hiv in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. For most people this sounds like a nightmare, but I can honestly say it is my dream job. I love my patients, as crazy as they are. It is hard work, but this is what I was meant to do. In the future I would like to go back to UCSF to become a nurse practitioner. I am also married. My husand and I have been married 3 years this august. We will celebrate at Burning Man, which is where we had our ceremony. I have no kids, but two cats that i treat like babies. | 5/21/2006 | 1998 | Jesse Johnson | | For those of you that don't know everything, I have moved to Portland. The one in Oregon. I think that from the time that cavemen and cavewomen roamed the Earth, there were fewer generations along the line that is my ancestry than most, hence my being more of a barbarian than most. This is why I specifically do not like hot, dry weather. I have finally made it to a place with a climate closer to being for what my body was designed, and I am thriving. It's science.
