Wasatch Academy Tigers Boys Baseball Team Wins First Game



On Wednesday, August 15th, the boys' baseball team finished off a double header against Bryce Valley with a 10-5 Victory. This young team is doing well and looks to improve as players with varsity experience return to Wasatch in the next two weeks. Go Tigers!

Track And Field Regional Finals



On Wednesday, May 9th, the track team attended their Region's finals, held at North Sanpete High School in Mount Pleasant, UT. Both the girls and boys teams placed third overall. Here are some of their individual results:

Girls
Yhindi '08 (Bellevue, ID): Region champion in long jump, 4 X 100 relay, and medley relay
Sayde '09 (Fairview, UT): Region champion in 800 meter, 2- mile and 4 X 100 relay and medley relay
Katherine '08 (Wales, UT): 2nd in long jump, Region champion in 4 X 100 and medley relays
Becca '08 (Wales, UT): State qualifier in 100 and 200 meter dashes; Region champion in 4 X 100 and medley relays


Boys
Zach '09 (Mount Pleasant, UT): Region Champion in long jump
Elijah '09 (Kabiyet, Kenya): Region Champion in 800 meter, mile and 2 - mile
Derek '07 (Rock Springs, WY): Region Champion in discus and shot put

The Wasatch Academy student body held a vote for next year's Student Council (STUCO), and the winners are as follows:

President - Karl '08 (Havre de Grace, MD), Vice President - Arlette '08 (Kigali, Rwanda), Secretary - Becca '09 (Wales, UT), Commissioner of Pep - Yhindi '08 (Bellevue, ID), Recreation Coordinator - Nicole '08 (Longmont, CO), and International Representative - Ho Jun '09 (Pohangsi, Korea).

On April 3rd, Wasatch Academy took a team of students to Snow College's Math Competition. As a team we took first overall in our division. Seung Han '07 (Seoul, Korea) took first place individual in our division and won an $800 scholarship for 2 semesters ($1600 total) to Snow College. Josh '09 (Ephraim, UT) took 3rd place overall in our division and won a $400 scholarship for 2 semesters ($800 total). Congratulations to all!

WAtchout! Dance Company

The Watchout! Dance Company has been rocking the competition scene. The company is made up of five Wasatch Academy students, Hilary, Whitney, Genie, Shyann and John. Their first competition was Onstage NY, at the Salt Palace, up in Salt Lake March 17th. They received High Silvers for both their hip hop and jazz dances. They were also recognized with the “Awesome Energy” award. Most recently the company competed in Spanish Fork, Utah at Can’t Stop Dancing! They placed first with their hip hop dance “Hey Girl!” and second with jazz dance “Bad to the Bone.” They will be performing two more times this school year. Once as a part of the performing arts show April 24, 25, 26. Second, their last competition will be I Love Dance! May 12th.
